The Story Behind Nepali Date Converter
Back in 2018, we found ourselves constantly juggling between Bikram Sambat and Gregorian dates. As Nepalis working across borders, we’d miss important deadlines or confuse family celebrations because of simple date conversion errors. The existing tools? Honestly, they were frustrating – slow, complicated, and sometimes just plain wrong.
One night after miscalculating an important family birthday (and facing the consequences!), we decided enough was enough.
We’re not a big tech company with unlimited resources. Just a small team of friends with programming skills and a shared problem. We built the first version of this converter for ourselves, but when friends started asking to use it too, we realized we weren’t alone in our struggles.
What We’ve Built
The site has grown quite a bit since then. Now we offer:
A super-quick AD to BS converter that doesn’t make you jump through hoops
The reverse too – BS to AD conversions that actually work
An age calculator that saves you from doing the math yourself (because who wants to calculate leap years manually?)
Today’s date in both calendars, updated in real-time
A festivals page to keep track of important celebrations throughout the year
The best part? Everything’s free and works just as well on your phone as it does on your computer.
Why People Keep Coming Back
We never expected thousands of daily visitors when we started this project. But looking back, it makes sense. Our tools just work – they’re accurate, fast, and don’t require a technical degree to figure out.
Students use us to convert assignment deadlines. Government officials check dates for official documents. Families living abroad stay connected to important cultural dates. Businesses coordinate between international teams.
Every improvement we’ve made came from someone saying “Hey, wouldn’t it be great if…” – and we listened. That’s the advantage of being small, I guess. We can actually make changes when users suggest them.
Looking Forward
We still have a lot we want to do. Beyond just converting dates, we’re working on building more educational content about Nepal’s unique calendar system. Many young Nepalis growing up abroad don’t fully understand the significance of our traditional calendar – we want to help bridge that gap.
We’re also developing more specialized calculators and personalized calendar features based on feedback we’ve received.
